This website is brought to you by the Interpretive Media Section of the National Association for Interpretation (NAI). Most of the fine folks who contribute articles here are members of NAI and of the Section.

Our Mission

“The Interpretive Media Section provides a forum for member education, support, and the exchange of ideas in the planning, design, production and dissemination of interpretive media.”

What We Do

Each summer, talented developers of exhibits, curricula, books, trail guides, and other media contend for top titles in a competition that culminates in the Interpretive Media Awards Ceremony at NAI’s National Workshop in November. The event has been held every year for over two decades. In terms of prestige, it’s similar to the Oscars. But we don’t give out statuettes.

For more than two decades, the Media Awards at NAI’s annual National Workshop have acknowledged excellence in interpretive media. It’s kind of like the Oscars, except that it honors the artists behind our best interpretive exhibits, films, audio tours, and the like. The Media Awards are co-hosted by the Interpretive Media Section and NAI’s National Office.

Also, of course, we run this website, which is intended to provide our members and other interpretive media professionals with a virtual workshop where we can learn, network and exchange ideas.
